Everything went normally, and I actually restrained myself until March to cautiously resume running again - without any apparent problems. Now, 6 months later, I'm slowly starting to build up this burning sensation in my knee. It doesn't seem related to running or other activity. I'm just aware that later on in the evening, it starts a slight burning sensation. Problem is, it seems to be getting gradually worse. Also wanted to mention that now there are times when I have this sensation in that knee that I want to 'crack' it - kinda like you do with your knuckles. Also - any twisting motion on it is a seriously non-positive event. If it matters, I am a bit older - but don't quite qualify for the senior discounts yet. I wanted to check in with the group here - I know there's a lot of first hand experience with screwed up knees here, as well as medical professionals. Any thoughts? Tom Where are you getting this sensation? the whole knee or one spot? The cracking could be fat pad syndrome |

6 | Subject: RE: Burning Sensation in My Knee Mostly its the interior of the joint itself. I did a google on it, and the terms were searched before, so it apparently isn't unheard of to have burning sensation there several months after meniscus surgery, but there wasn't much feedback or info given. So I'm not quite sure how much of an issue this is. I definitely am not motivated to push through the minor pain, and turn a burning sensation into a raging forest fire in there. Tom |

Tom Its probably fat pad syndrome but I would go back and see your surgeon. There is a fat pad that lives behind everyones knee cap tendon and when we do arthroscopy we have to go thru it. Some nerve endings can get injured and the fat pad can get scarred/swollen. Sometimes an injection will cure it sometimes just doing some self massage over the portals will help quiet it down. Go see your doc |

6 | Subject: RE: Burning Sensation in My Knee Got it Socks - Thanks for clarifying that. When I googled 'fat pad syndrome' it came back with stuff about the heel, not the knee. What you're describing makes sense. Thanks again Tom |

1159 | Subject: RE: Burning Sensation in My Knee thanks for the info about fat pad knee pain...I fell down the stairs a few years ago and navy medicine never managed to diagnose anything wrong with my knee (they didn't do anything other than give me ibuprofen/knee brace for 3 months...) - but reading up on it, it sounds similar to the continuing issue I have - I notice that when I run the back of my knee gets stiff/swollen/sore - more so than the rest of it - so i'll have to mention it to my doc when I see them |
