Subject: Swim book question
I would like to buy a swimming workout book to get some guidance I narrowed it down to these two books:

1. Swim workouts for triathletes by Gale Bernhardt
2. Speed Swim Workouts for Swimmers and Triathletes by Sheila Taormina

Any difference between the two? Thank you!

Swim Speed Workouts by Taormina!!! It's fantastic. I have both of these, btw. The workouts in Bernhardt's book are boring. Taormina's pack comes with tons of workouts. She states the purpose of each session at the top, and she has you doing lots of different things to improve your swim. The cards are waterproof so you can just take those to the pool. There is also a comprehensive drill section, with visual aids to help explain the drills.

An excellent book! Well written, and has made a big difference in my swimming. I recommend it without reservations.

I couldn't have said this better myself. I too own both books. IF, and I do say IF, you can complete the entire Swim Speed Workouts, you will be significantly stronger swimmer. They are tough, especially the "She Rah" workouts. I wish I could return the Bernhardt book...

3 out of 3, so I'm ordering Sheila's book tonight. I knew I had to ask here before making a decision, I was set on Bernhardt's book...

Thank you very much!

My problem is I can only swim about 30-40 meters without having to rest. What is the best way to improve this? I need to get from 40 to 750 meters in 6 months.

I have 10 lessons with a coach and he keeps telling my I'm holding my breath. I cannot figure out where since I'm breathing out and in every 3rd stroke. Any drill recommendations?
