I have a trail run scheduled for this weekend but I am going to be staying up in the Cumming area. Are there any good running trails around the area. I am staying with a friend that lives about 3 miles from Sawnee Mountain.

Any experience good or bad? Runnable?

Dirty Spokes has a race there: http://www.dirtyspokes.com/sawnee-mountain/

The link has a video of the trail.

Depending on how long your run is, I would run at Laurel Ridge/Buford Dam and the surrounding trails. Sawnee is about 4 miles I believe. You have quite a few looping trails along the Buford Dam. I often get 10 or more in that area without a lot of repeating. I prefer to run along a water source to cool off on during my runs on this miserably humid days anyway. Enjoy!

new to the area but I got in a nice trail run at Sawnee a few weekends ago. Some portions of the trail are fairly rooty/rocky so watch your ankles. I think it is only 4 miles for the big loop but 2 miles of the loop is very challenging (the uphill parts). Two loops was a good workout for me.

If you are a person who feels safer on the trails rather than the road, but you still want to race, this article will help you better train.

A Walmart bike, a borrowed road bike or a new carbon fiber bike? You don't need to break the bank for your first triathlon bike.

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

The XTERRA off-road triathlons consist of a lake swim, a mountain bike trail ride, and a trail run. I decided to try the AZ Xtreme Desert XTERRA Tri as my 1st off-road triathlon, and my 3rd tri ever.

Well I said that I was not going to do it this season, but I cracked. I broke down and bought a new bike. I went out and bought a shiny new Cannondale road bike.

So after about 10,000 emails, dozens of phone calls, and one pre-race pasta dinner, the 1st meeting of the Steve's in a triathlon finally arrived.
