Subject: Tri-Suits for Struggling Swimmers?
Guys

I will be honest here. I am currently struggling in swimming. The wetsuit offers a great crutch for a struggling
swimmer, but during the summer wetsuits are not legal because of greater than 84 deg.F water tempt.
Do any of you know of a tri-suit that can help a newbie swimmer float better and survive the swim leg?

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Sincerely

Carl

Not to be too harsh, but go work on your swimming, then you won't have to worry about your suit.

By every sanctioning body I know of, a tri suit cannot provide any additional flotation.  Some might argue that a there are some benefits from compression that helps with form and provides some hydrodynamic benefit.  These gains would be very marginal to most swimmers and for a beginner would not be a means to survive an event.  If you are thinking of spending money here redirect it to a swim lesson.  It will help you much more.

The closest thing would probably be a De Soto with a float pad, but I doubt it would make a huge difference.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

Most of us in the triathlon world are concerned with more than just fat burning. There are certain situations when it’s appropriate to use fins during a workout.
