Swim
Comments: i changed my stroke about two weeks before. much slower stroke but did not hurt my time all that bad for me. felt relaxed and came out of the water fresh and ready to tackle the transition and the bike rather than be gasping for air and feeling dizzy. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: everything went pretty smoothly What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: there were very little competitors and i started the swim second to last so by the time i got on the bike not having done this race before i was a little lost. course was well marked but being alone and quite a few turns i didn't want to make a wrong one. What would you do differently?: hill work Transition 2
Comments: i used spin bike pedals with the straps for this race so in t1 i put on my running shoes instead of my cycling shoes so in t2 i was on top of the straps running dismount racked my bike, helmet off visor on and i was running. since t1 and t2 were included in the bike time it felt 20-25 seconds. the pedals really payed off. t2 is usually close to 3 minutes for me. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Post race
Warm down: ate snacks under the awning and waited for other friends to finish What limited your ability to perform faster: weight and conditioning Event comments: well run and a great destination. was amazed there were not more participants. beautiful area and at 50$ you can't beat the deal for a race , a shirt , and a finishers medal. i will def. be back Last updated: 2013-06-06 12:00 AM

got there early because of the long drive i wanted to allow plenty of time. was able to take my time setting up my transition area and not feel rushed.
just some light stretching, music, and try to stay relaxed.
