I do 10+ and quite a few in the 7-10k range ... but I also do the odd 10k swimming event .. so that is what works for me.

I feel comfy now. I have 3 in and less than 2 weeks before IMKY.

I think I"m def doing better than the guy who said he just started swimming 2 weeks before IM. He must have been some type of olympic swimmer back in the day or he was like the honey badger????

I'm 12 days out from IMC.  Total # of 2.4 mile swims = 0.

Depending on your swim fitness, I don't think getting a 2.4 miler in is all that important. My plan has 1 hour ocean swims on Sundays and I am about an hour swimmer, so it just works out that way

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

So tell me why I want to bother swimming the other strokes? I'm IM training, and plan to swim freestyle for the entire race, is there an advantage to working on the other strokes?

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
