Run
Comments: Went out to fast with the leader. Kept him within 20-25 yards until I caught him at mile 3. Ran side by side the 4th mile. I took water at the 4 mile water station and he skipped so I followed right behind him the next .5 mile then passed thinking he'd get on my heels. He feel off. I wasn't running my race the 5th mile but following his pace and fell back a little to a 6:50 pace. Finished strong with a 6:33 last mile. Finally broke the 40 minute mark. What would you do differently?: Pay less attention to what the guy ahead of me was doing and pay attention to MY pace. I went out faster than I should have the first mile. If I paced accordingly I could have finished a little faster. Post race
Warm down: Ran back down the last .25 mile to wait for my dad to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: If anything, not running my race. This was a PR for me so tough to pick a limiting factor Event comments: I don't want to be overly critical. This is very much a small town race put on by the local FCA. There were no timing chips and really no post race activities (unless you count the 4th parade but that wasn't really part of the race and it started 3 hours after the race start) There were 2 drink stations for the 10k (which is fine by me) however there were only 2 people at each station. If the race were to grow at all that's nowhere near enough volunteers. The race started 20 minutes late (thankfully in my case). All that said this was the second time I've run it and I will do it again next year Last updated: 2013-07-04 12:00 AM

Ate a Clif bar and drank a coffee on the 30 minute drive to the race site.
Jogging .5 mile to registration, another .5 mile to toss the "race swag" in the car, then another .5 mile to the start line. Was running late the jogging was more necessity than warm up
