Total Time = 1h 27m 52s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/19
Pre-race routine:

Up at 3:30. Ate my usual breakfast in the car on the way to the race at 4:15. Forgot to eat Lara bar after setting up transition. Turned out to be good since I felt a bit pukey most of the race.
Event warmup:

Did a little stretching and then about 10 laps in the diving well. The warm up swim really helped to calm my nerves.
Swim
  • 17m 35s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 20s / 100 meters
Comments:

No big issues. Got passed a few times. Passed a few people back.
What would you do differently?:

Practice circle swimming and swimming under the ropes. This really slowed me down compared to my training swim times.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No big issues here. Would have liked to have been faster.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more.
Bike
  • 43m 59s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.47 mile/hr
Comments:

I probably worked a bit too hard on the bike but I had a blast passing people.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe a slower pace to save a bit more for the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Had a little trouble racking bike. I should have practiced this a bit before the race.
What would you do differently?:

Practice racking bike
Run
  • 26m 17s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I really enjoyed the kids with the super soakers. Was the longest 5k ever! I was hot and very tired at that point. My pace slowed over the course of the run.
What would you do differently?:

Better pacing on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank several cups of water and Gatorade. Walked around. Had some watermelon and a bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to practice serpentine swimming and transitions. Also need to work on pacing.

Event comments:

A very well run event. Can't wait for the next one.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
