Swim
  • 19m 55s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Bumped around at the beginning and got my goggles displaced so had to stop and readjust. Felt pretty strong the whole way. Didn't have much trouble sighting as I just watched people beside me. Didn't concentrate much on form.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe start a bit stronger. I felt like I wasn't winded at the end.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No problems in transition. Went smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Turn the number belt the other way around.
Bike
  • 38m 43s
  • 20 kms
  • 31.06 km/hr
Comments:

Legs felt sore and stiff from the start. Side and shoulder pain. Felt a bit winded at first but got into a groove and passed many people. No one passed me. Didn't feel too winded at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a bit harder. The course had lots of corners and rollers so I didn't get into the aero position for a lot of the time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

All went well and smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 23m 24s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 41s  min/km
Comments:

Legs felt stiff and sore at first but then loosened up and the run went fairly well. Didn't push really hard but was definitely hot and tired at the end. Passed lots of people and no one passed me.
What would you do differently?:

Try to be more relaxed and ignore the messages from the legs and body as I didn't really breath hard most of the way.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being affected by the discomfort.

Event comments:

Really cool start off the steamboat and nice ride and run through pretty country.

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

Any good race director will go over the triathlon swim course directions many times.

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
