The National Training Center is located just a few miles from the start of the Great Floridian.  Here is a link to the center's site that discusses the various housing options in the area.

Glad to help. Now find a place with comfy beds because you're going to need that after the GF

There is a hampton inn just down the road from the NTC. I do not live in the area but was just there and that is where I stayed.

We stay at the Fairfield Inn in Clermont - also very close to the NTC. Beds are comfy. I haven't done that race but both the Fairfield and the Hampton are popular choices.

Thanks again everyone. I quess all Gators cant be bad - lol. For those who have done the race 1 question. The swim times seem very fast for a lake swim. Most were in the 1.15 to 1.30 range when I looked. Is there a reason for this besides all the athletes in Florida have excelent form? I am slow but alot of IM races much more common to have more 1.45 + swim times seen. Obviously more people in a Ironman but stil pretty fast swim times at GF.

Did the race last year - my third IM distance, and I didn't notice any assistance with the swim. Perhaps there were just fast folks. My times were pretty much in the range of what I've done before.

First, I'm a Seminole! Second, i haven't done the race but can tell you that generally the lake is smooth as glass, so maybe that has something to do with the faster times.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

It may seem simple, but too many athletes get hurt during the season. We all need to stay safe while we share the roads. Here are some reminders to remain alert to our surroundings.

You’re probably not going to get it just right immediately. Like always, just do the best you can and keep on keeping on. Don’t get upset if you don’t hit the target every time.
