Just an FYI, planning on doing a few loops of the bike course on Aug. 10th, if anyone is interested.

Anyone racing?

Yep, I should be able to make it that day.

I heard that the RD is Bill Marshall. Will be interesting to see how race day goes. I've passed some feedback onto Jeff at Elite based on the last few years race reports/comments I've heard etc. I'm guessing course will be the same as last few years. There's a spot where they put some plywood down on the bridge, that's the one sketchy part of the bike course. Other than that, pretty flat, pretty fast. I think Jared Kuntz rocked a 26 mph average there last year.

Are thinking bike + run brick? I'd be down with that.

I have been on the fence for this race - training has slacked off due to work blah, blah, blah. But if Reece is right and it is a fairly flat course, I will likely sign up this week.

Found this on mapmyride, only two climbs. First one, lenth about 7/8th of a mile, average grade is 2.4%. Second one, length about 1.1 miles, average grade 2.1%. That's it, the rest downhill to flat. Short course loop shown, long course is two laps.

What time on the 10th? I might be able to convince the home front I'll be safe with a group.

I've raced this event on either the short or long course since 2006. Ya, the bridge sucks and they just resorted to no wood on the bridge any more and riders take the raised driving lanes across at their own risk. People complained no matter what they did and to be honest, unless they change the course, it will always be an issue. Just go slow and be deliberate and it's not a big deal.

I checked out my garmin files and I get around 1000 to 1100 feet of elevation over the bike course. Reece is right, it's mostly on two hills. I wouldn't call it flat, but it's not a killer.

And why what would you ever have against BM? It couldn't be how 2011 it took me 8 minutes to swim 1000 meters? Ya, it was a little short. And the 2012 results were odd as they didn't have any transition times. Kind of a pain and if you figure their averages on their distances, the math doesn't work out.

But hey, it is what it is. I would imagine that Elite will want to make money, so I'm sure they will be on it or risk blowing their money buying the races.

Anytime works for me. I was just throwing out the date as that's about the only weekend I can before the race. Selfish, I know... I'm good for a good brick, thinking about doing 2 loops and maybe the full run course.

And I haven't heard of this bridge. Seems really sketchy.

Let me know what time on the 10th. I have "Beerfest" the evening before. This is no normal evening of drinking. Depending on how the morning is going I'm a maybe.
I am doing the race though. If BM doesn't do a good job. of marking the course with plenty of volunteers this will be the last race I do by elite or KLM. I only signs up because I thought someone with a clue how to run and Mark a race was in charge.

I've done the bridge both ways, with cardboard and without. It's on a fast flat portion and I've gone whizzing over the boards at 20-25 mph but as many of you know, I'm not afraid of crashing on the bike......

I do however, make sure nobody is close behind me when I do so, I will only risk my own race

I'll be out there for the race as it's right next to my house.

It's a great course for those not familiar with it. One good hill, you hit it twice during the race (each loop). Once up the front, then again up the back side.

I'm planning on doing the MO State TT Championship on the 10th so meeting up out there is out.

Not bad. Some decent potholes, some rough stretches of road, but all in all it should be a fast course. The bridge wasn't at all what I had pictured in my head. Ready for a great race! Hopefully Elite/KLM crew are ready too!

Yeah, the road condition on Sampson before the bridge is not so good, has some small canyons in it so just watch you line. The shade of the trees there doesn't help. The descent on High Grove is fun, hit 46.5 mph Saturday, wheeeeeee!
