Anyone use them. Was on my long ride yesterday and I have been using the salt pills for months now. Finally decided it would be much easier just to get a dispenser. I ride a Trek SC and already have my gear cables running through my aero bars so that isn't an option of putting it into a handle bar/aero bar. Think I could just zip tie the thing to the side with pretty much zero impact on Aero performance?

I have the ones that go in back part of aerobars.....they can get gunked up if you ride in wet weather. I had mine for my first IM and turned out to pour all day on the bike which dissolves them and makes a bit of a mess.

I put them in a small flat pill dispenser from Target that says am/pm and have some on both sides as I tend to drop them as do many triathletes (you'll see them littering the road on IM).  I keep spares in SN bags.

I don't use salt pills often, but have just dumped some into the bento box when I have more recently.

A small bottle seems to be more popular than the sticks for in the bento box, usually from some type of pill or candy. Like m&m's.

I like the little pill bags - and for an IM, I actually mark them with the TIME that I should take them - my brain is mush, and I'll lose track otherwise.

I am not really a big fan of saltsticks, salt tabs or saline and alike that is salt base.

saltbase only supplements loss of Na and Cl electrolytes , how about K e-lytes. K is just as important as Na. Imbalance of K can affect the athletes heart, more dangerous if the athlete has a pre existing heart condition. I would prefer Cytomax,Gatorade or Skratch they provide they supplement most of the common electrolytes lost.

Just provding my honest opinion.

I hear ya but, for those of us who are heavy salt sweaters like me here is my problem. I can't just continue to gobble down lots of the sports drink. I can do a decent amount but at the end of the day I can't handle that much sugary drink without feeling I need to throw up at some point. Therefore I love my water and salt pills. I still roll around with a couple of bottles of Perform on the bike as well for added calories.

I use a tic tac box for the salt capsules. Or a snack sized baggie then put that in my bento box.

Not one menu is a perfect fit for all athletes, but there are some general rules that everyone can use as a guide during the final 24 hours leading into your race.
