Subject: Question on proper valve extension length. Here's the story - I have 88 mm tubular rims on order along with Conti tubulars. The tires come with a 30mm valve stem with a removable core. When I comes to extenders, I prefer the removable core type versus the ones that mount over an open valve. I'm always afraid that the inside valve could close up. That wouldn't be a big deal if they weren't tubulars that would be a giant PIA to remove and reglue.
So, to the question, I have found 70mm extenders for use with removable core tubes/tires. That would add up to 100mm. Is that enough clearance to work with in terms of filling with air. I could also put on 2x40mm extenders but that might be overkill in length and add one more thread where air could conceivably escape.
Thanks in advance for any tips!
