Jim, why was the swim in the marina, waves like 2010? I personally like the rough water swim, since it gives me an advantage but understand the need to move it when conditions become rough. We look forward to returning to Tawas, but with work this year and a wedding next year it will be 2015 before we get to go back. I have to imagine the bike course with new pavement has to be real nice!
I was wondering where you were.
It wasn't quit 2010 bad. All day Friday we had heavy surf and the lake never really settled down. The wind moved overnight to Southwest which made it swimmable but rough. The forecast ( which came true ) had a major storm system coming in during the swim and the wind shifting back to the Southeast. It was moved as a preventative measure. Good thing, because before the swim was done we did have heavy surf again. It may remain in the harbor. It makes the swim more technical (which isn't good for me, I swim in the surf most of the time ). It was very easy to spot and the most user friendly swim I know of. Spectators were feet away from the athletes for most of the swim, which made it a lot of fun for them. It was nice to actually have people there cheering also. I could get the photos to load on the BT site, but we got some really good shots of the swim.
The Bike course is great. If the pavement weren't wet it would have been a very fast bike leg. |
