My wife and I participated in our first triathlon here. Sprint of course. I can say it was a great experience and I know having the city's cooperation is a huge part of that. Thank you and please thank the businesses for us.

Parking was never an issue which is a huge plus. The course was great, granted we have limited experience. I too noticed that a couple of volunteers who didn't seem too thrilled or weren't paying attention when they needed to, but percentage wise, it was a very low number.

We are thrilled to hear the guy hit is OK. We saw the front fork was broken before we knew what happened and wondered what they hit.

Thanks again for a great weekend!

I'm glad you had a good weekend here and a good race. If there is something you can think of that will improve the event, please let me know and I can pass it along.

I thought the event was terrific. I can't wait for next year.

I liked the swim course through the marina. We have a boat in the marina and my family , and the other boaters we spoke with, enjoyed watching the swimmers pass by. The payment on the bike course was smooth and scenic.

My appreciation to you and the people of East Tawas for hosting the event.

Jim, why was the swim in the marina, waves like 2010?  I personally like the rough water swim, since it gives me an advantage but understand the need to move it when conditions become rough.

We look forward to returning to Tawas, but with work this year and a wedding next year it will be 2015 before we get to go back.  I have to imagine the bike course with new pavement has to be real nice!

I was wondering where you were.
It wasn't quit 2010 bad. All day Friday we had heavy surf and the lake never really settled down. The wind moved overnight to Southwest which made it swimmable but rough. The forecast ( which came true) had a major storm system coming in during the swim and the wind shifting back to the Southeast. It was moved as a preventative measure. Good thing, because before the swim was done we did have heavy surf again. It may remain in the harbor. It makes the swim more technical (which isn't good for me, I swim in the surf most of the time). It was very easy to spot and the most user friendly swim I know of. Spectators were feet away from the athletes for most of the swim, which made it a lot of fun for them. It was nice to actually have people there cheering also. I could get the photos to load on the BT site, but we got some really good shots of the swim.
The Bike course is great. If the pavement weren't wet it would have been a very fast bike leg.
