Completed my first Olympic today. The swim was a mile. It was also a tough bike course consisting of 4 laps with about 1/2 through a rural suburb with rolling hills and turns. I didn't have much energy left over for the run. I ran the downhill and flats and walked up the grades. I average a 12 minute mile on the 10k. I'm a bit disappointed in this as I've been putting in the training miles. Anyway, I have two new more Sprints this season. Looking forward to those...

Excellent work. It wouldn't matter if you did the backstroke, rode a Big Wheel, and walked the whole way. You still nailed the Olympic distance, and will forever be an Olympic-distance triathlete.

Congratulations! It is a big jump from a sprint, IMO, so I think you did great!

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.

Is one month enough time to recover from my first marathon to go and do my first olympic tri? My alternative options are to do the 1/2 marathon and then do the olympic.

I signed up for a Sprint in July, an Olympic distance in September, and the Alcatraz tri in October. If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it all the way.
