My 15 year old (race age 16) and I are on our way home from the AG Sprint National Championship.  My son finished 4th overall out of nearly 1300 and 2nd in his AG.  Out of the top 3 women and top 4 men there were 4 kids who were either 15 or 16.......the next wave of triathletes are coming, and these young athletes are going to stand on a lot of podiums.

Hats off to Milwaukee for a very well hosted event.

I'm not surprised, your son and daughter have worked hard all year.  It's paying off.

You must be real proud.

Yes, he's already really looking forward to it.  It'll be a fun year for him next year with that race to point toward.

Congrats to your son. That is awesome. I just looked up the Sprint results (assume that is your son's event as there is a 16-yd old in 4th overall). The 2nd place overall (also 16) Seth Rider raced the Music City Sprint in Nashville last summer along with a bunch of other SE US "elites" (not sure proper term for the young USAT team racers). It was very impressive watching these kids race. Amazing how fast they are. Very fun to watch them.

No....he got that bike for his 14th b-day so he's raced it a  dozen times or so.....but he hadn't got to race it since April since all of his racing this summer was in draft legal and tri-bikes are not allowed.

To the poster above who mentioned Rider and the SE team...yeah, all great kids.  It's really a cool deal for these "elite" youth and junior racers because they belong to high performance youth teams based around the country and race each other all season.  My son and his teammates know Seth and his teammates along with kids from other teams.  Social media and kids being what it is, my kids keep in touch with other kids all over the country and Mexico.  Most of the teams are comprised of kids within some type of framework that resembles kids in it for recreation, competitive teams, and elite racers who have passed benchmark standards for National and International competition at the Jr. (16-19) level.  As was stated, it's impressive to watch these kids....and rest assured, if they roll into a local triathlon you will see them blow a race up and grab a lot of hardware. Laughing

Honey, great news. I just spent our kids’ college fund on a new bike! The sales guy said it will shave at least 3 seconds off my 40K time. Umm, honey why do you have a knife in your hand???
