Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 430, took a shower, ate a bowl of cerial, then drove to Milwaukee. Got my transition area set up and pumped up my tires then had to leave transition area and sit around for 2 more hours! my wave didn't start till 945 after the initial 15 minute start delay.
Event warmup:

jumped in the water and swam for a little bit then treaded water waiting for the horn to blow.
Swim
  • 27m 42s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very hectic start. kept getting hit and hitting people which effected my breathing big time. but once we got past the narrow bridge it started to spread out and I could relax a little.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

pretty good transition, lots and lots of bikes though. I had a hard time finding my location.
Bike
  • 1h 03m 1s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 23.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike... felt good passing alot of people the whole way.
What would you do differently?:

bike faster
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

good transition. again, hard time finding my transition spot cause of so many racers.
Run
  • 44m 56s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt exhausted on the run. averaged 7:13 min/miles which isn't bad but isn't good. I need to run faster exspecially on a flat course. Lots of people passed me.
What would you do differently?:

run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

water and gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

no excuses.

Event comments:

Good race.

Great bike and decent run, as far as I'm concerned. I'm glad i was in the 5th wave so I didn't have to wait around as long as you. If it was a hot day, I think that would be a real concern for a race like this.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

For most age-group triathletes, getting the most out of there time for quality workouts can be daunting. Think outside the triangle to get a little more.

The start of the race I had the jitters. I was watching the other age groups start as they seeded the swim with over 1000 participants.
