Total Time = 1h 30m 5s
Overall Rank = 599/1225
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 30/53
Pre-race routine:

This race was a "training" race. Decided to run the entire race by my HR and keep below 150 for the entire race. I was not focused on how I ranked in the race.
Swim
  • 13m 13s
  • 625 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

First Tri this season. The wave start always causes challenges, it took about 200 yds to get used to the bumping.
What would you do differently?:

More open water and group swimming
Transition 1
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

No real hurry in the transition, walked from the swim to the bike. Walked the bike out no running.
Bike
  • 38m 30s
  • 12.75 miles
  • 19.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Kept HR below 150 and cadence between 80-90. Happy with the average MPH considering I was really not at race pace.
Transition 2
  • 02m 44s
Comments:

Again, no real hurry in the transition. Focused on dropping the HR and getting ready for the run. Walked out to the starting area and then began running.
Run
  • 32m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

1st two miles at 11+ min/mile. Last 1mile at 9 min/mile. Overall easy run. Walked both water stations. Again, I focused on keeping the HR below 150.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
