I barely pay mind to advertisements in the first place.  I would have no clue what was implied if I saw the ad and didn't read this thread.  My mind would have registered "man with hands on dog laying down" in the 0.2 seconds my eyes swept over the page page.

After being told what it implied.  I still don't care that much.  I can't say I "like" the ad but bigger things to worry about.  Probable in poor taste, but I care about it as much as any advertising, witch is next to nothing.

I find that 99% of all advertising either makes no sense to me or is just stupid. But I don't get worked up about it, it's just an ad. I think some of the SPCA ads are in poor taste too. I mean, who wants to look at Sarah McLachan?

What always bothers me is that people get paid for creating dumb ads..

I always feel like I could do a better job... (but in reality I know I couldn't)

Fancy hair man.. you're a flamer.. admit it.. you are... for personal gain..

Maybe I'm just a dork, but I didn't see anything wrong with the ad.  It's kind of corny, but I'd say this ranks about 3,958,283,123 on my list of things to be outraged about in the world today.

Me too

So my add for loading kittens onto skeet throwers would not go over to well?

It would depend how far I had to lead them.

I laughed so hard the person in the office next to mine poked his head in to see what was up.

I read all the comments before checking out the link.  All along I thought it was a commercial where you would watch the guy giving CPR... In my mind I was thinking that wouldn't seem too over the top, mainly because I knew it was just a commercial not a youtbue video.

However once I saw it was just a print ad, I had the same opinion as a previous poster, meaning I don't think I would have even given a few seconds to ponder the message...

It's just a fact of life in our society people are sensitive to bad things happening to animals and children....Generalization I know but it's not far off..

As for the comment on the kitten launcher, that was just plain funny....

I guess in the end it is a Rough Joke. I just finished Tina Fey's book, great audiobook. I think it is the kinda joke that if you laugh at you are like, "man, I'm an a$$" and if you don't laugh at you are like "everyone else is an a$$". She has a really Rough Joke in her book. Man. Great audiobook though.

I love Tina Fey. I listened to her audio book on a long car trip this summer. I'm watching her 30 Rock episodes on Netflix now and they are hilarious.

Here is an update to the story:

http://www.nbcnews.com/business/running-shoemaker-doghouse-after-dead-dog-ad-8C11080335

In the wake of the firestorm, the company pulled the ad and posted an apology on its Facebook page.

I saw a poster at my gym that had a runner passing a car with steam coming out of the hood.  Same add essentially, but with a dead car.
