Is there really an outdoor, open water, tri at Coney Island on November 10th? Call me a wimp, but I think I'll have to pass on this one, brrrrr.

For me, it would be less about the swim, which would be wetsuit legal, than the bike and run. I've done a couple of early spring races in NYC and riding and running while wet in chilly, and maybe damp, conditions just sucks. It takes hours to warm up afterwards.

You never know, there could be a freek snowstorm that weekend, or a heat wave making temps 70s!

Typical NYC weather. :-)

Looks like fun though.

The event has apparently been postponed until next year. It will run in late October instead of November.

I couldn’t help but feel that the race had beaten me. Perhaps duathlons were more for me? No, I was more determined than ever to succeed. I was determined to get on top of my swimming.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
