Any Good Garmin Deals? (405, 410, 610, 910)

Pro  5361   |  Subject: Any Good Garmin Deals? (405, 410, 610, 910)Looks like my trusty 405 has given up. it's blinking 100% battery, then 0% battery, then shutting off. and then repeating that process. Blinking on and off. ugh. Had to run using my iphone strava app this morning... like a commoner! anyway- I love having a garmin. I'm not really looking for advice on which one, as I'm pretty familiar with them all, and know that I want one that has all the more advanced features- like custom workouts, programmable screens and fields, virtual partner, etc. I don't mind the bezel on the 405- works fine for me in the desert. So, I want a 405, 410, 610 or perhaps a 910xt. Guess I would consider a timex run trainer 2 as well. so- are there any good deals on any of these devices going on? I can't wait until cyber monday. although- I guess I could use my garmin edge 500 cycling computer for runs in the mean time. Since I already have a swimovate swim watch, as well as a garmin 500 for my bike, I don't really need a 910. Hmmm- the tom tom kinda' looks interesting. anyone use the new one? |

Their last offer was a $50 rebate on an edge 500. I missed out on that by ONE DAY!!! This would have applied on top of any discount you may already get. If all else fails, my recommendation would be to use the 10% discount through DC Rainmaker. I know lots of other sites offer 10-15% off all the time, but if I'm going to take one offer to support someone, it will be to support Ray. Clever Training shipped my 500 promptly. |

On occasion I have had to call customer service for issues and have found that they have the best service of any company I have dealt with ...they even helped me when my unit was out of warranty. The calls are answered by people in Kansas, many of them endurance athletes themselves. I recommend that you give them a try ...and if that doesn't fix the problem then you can try their outlet store here: http://g.factoryoutletstore.com/cat/31172/Garmin-Multi-Sport-Watche... I told them that this was the second one I had in which the band broke after about 1 year (the first they replaced under warranty) and asked them if I had any other options as I wasn't really interested in buying an $89 "1-yr disposable" Garmin. They connected me to another department were I was offered $89 (or up to 1/2 off the new unit, whichever is less) trade in value on any other Garmin. So, I ended up with a new FR70 (which, according to DCRainmaker, has a significantly better band) for $65 - as far as far as I'm concerned, a more than fair deal. Garmin support is always very reasonable IMHO. ... from their support site, it's looks like your 405 is worth $79 if you get offered the same deal. |

thanks. checked the deal at GearUp... it was for the OLD Ambit... not the New Ambit 2. I'm partial to Garmin... but I would consider another device if it was nifty enough, had the features I need and spit out a .gpx or .tcx kinda' file that I could upload to everything else.
yeah- good deal on the 310 at REI, only $170. price is sure right. It's just HUGE. not sure that I could ever love it. (guess I'm very picky) |

They had the unit for $169 w/o the HR strap or $199 with the premium strap (soft, not hard strap). In addition to the price being better at REI than even the Garmin outlet, REI has a no questions asked return policy and gives 10% back in a dividend to Members at the end of each year. Two great companies with awesome customer service - REI and Garmin - with the cheapest price = one great deal. |

Talk about quick turn around from REI. As for the watch itself, the Garmin 310xt is a great upgrade from the Forerunner 305. It is actually even easier to use and I love the vibration feature that lets you know of "events" - be it a mile split or time to do the next interval. Garmin continues to impress. |
