I am thinking about arriving on Friday and would like to do a swim in the river while there. Are there organized swims or people who offer to be a guide kayak/canoe for a fee?

I will be there and will be swimming on Saturday morning. I know of about three others that will be swimming too. If it's anything like years past, there is a large group of people that will be out there throughout the morning and afternoon.

Not to hijack the thread but I heard from somebody today at work that said the river is extremely high right now and there is a high possibility that the swim would be cancelled? Anyone else heard anything about that?

As of right now the local authorities have been asking that people not swim in the river due to the flow.  However, this past weekend the flow was drastically reduced for some odd reason, maybe Labor Day?  People still continue to swim in the river even with the high flow.

That's the same problem they had with Chattanooga. Let's hope the rain holds off.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.

What most athletes forget to realize is that all the training in the world will go down the toilet if the pacing or the nutrition plan isnt executed properly.
