I have an Xterra full wetsuit that I can get off really quickly, but I would really like to wear my Desoto Speed tube and vest for my 70.3 later this month. I can get the bottoms off very quickly but getting the top off feels like a wrestling match and usually takes me a good 45seconds to get off. Any tips or suggestions on getting the Speedvest off?

I am by no means an expert at this, but assuming the zipper comes up the same way the full sleeve desoto top does, this is what I do. Pull the zipper up, and use the cord to start pulling the top up over my head. I need to hitch the front part up to sort of loosen it, then I'm able to pull with the cord to get it all the way over my head. (I've seen videos where they pull it off using the cord in one fluid motion, but that just doesn't work for me - I have to kind of pull up a little on the front of the top as well.) I cannot do this while running into transition, I have to stop. And this is after practicing over and over again.

It looks like it'd remove just like the fullsleeve version. And what I do is undo the zipper, then grab the bottom left of the suit with my right hand, and the bottom right with my left hand. Now you're grabbing the bottom of your suit but with your arms crossed. Then just pull up and out.

Practice this by removing your T-shirts this way.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try both methods several times between now and race day to see what works best for me.

Running does not cause injury. Poor running form does. Running is more enjoyable, and safer if you know what you’re doing. And yes, even old dogs can learn new tricks.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
