I'm on my taper week and I find myself craving food, much more than when I was training hard. Is this my body recharging itself or is this my body being bored and wanting to fill the time with food?

I'm in the same place. I find when I have a heavy training schedule food is a fuel not a treat, and when I cut back that training the cravings come back. Add to that the fact that you've added somewhere between 4 and 8 hours a week of "idle" time and the grazing begins.

I start my marathon taper in 2 weeks and am VERY concerned about overeating.

Your body is accustomed to the higher intake to offset the higher burn. Resist!

I'm tapering this week for my first sprint triathlon. I'm thinking I may need to adjust my calorie intake for the decreased workout load? How do I make sure I am properly fueled for the race?

You know what you should eat. Yet you just don’t want to. Yuck—whole wheat bread, bran cereal, oatmeal, skim milk, spinach, fish, fruit for snacks and desserts.
