Extreme Veteran 890 Sterling | Subject: RE: First IM tomorrow! I'll start working on the race report sometime this morning. The swim was brutal. 20mph winds were having the waves white capping out there on the lake at 7 am. Mile 60 on the bike I broke a front spoke on my 90mm carbon wheel. Wheel wouldn't spin then. Averaging 20.5 mph then. Had bike tech guy loosen up front brake all the way so it would spin and I had a wobbly wheel for the next 52 miles and rode the brakes on all the downhills not going over 25 mph in fear I would crash/complete wheel failure. Dropped my average to 18.5...sucked but act of God I guess.. Run was a new kind of hurt. I walked more than I wanted too but only through the aid stations and one of the giant hills. |
