Destin Triathlon 2013 on 10/12: who's in?

I'm doing it this year. I've done most of the tris from Destin-Mobile but haven't done this one yet. I'm exciting and hoping and place in my AG.

Also, did they have awards for first timer and fat tire catagories last year?

What do you suppose the water temp will be?

IIRC they did do awards for those divisions.Don't hold me to that, though.

Here are last year's results. I believe they did awards for top three with gender and age divisions (over/under 40).

I'll be on a MTB but I registered in clydesdale because the men's fat tire division was looking sparse.

Water temp last year was 79*, and the weather was perfect. Fingers crossed that this year's the same.

I mapped out the ride and it only came out to 5.5 miles online. I'm going to ride it today and check for sure. I'm hoping it's actually 8. I'll be there either way! It's bummer they had to move the course but i'm glad they didn't cancel.

It is hard to decipher from the mutlisport website, but it looks like there are two loops. They even have a video of the race director driving the second loop. Looks like it should be pretty close to 8 miles.

I am just glad they didn't cancel.

Race turned out great. Cool little course. Fun after party. Got my first trip to the podium as icing on the cake!

Nice congrats! I missed the podium by 1:30. Hopefully next year.

That sure was a fun race. The swim was fast and really physical. I would've done a lot more 200-300yd sprints and fewer 500-1000yd sets in the pool if I knew that's how it was going to be.

Congrats on the podium (you got 2nd in Clydesdale under 40?), I was 5th in that category. Ran the fastest 3mi of my life, but still have some work to do to be able to string together sub 8 min miles. Also haven't yet figured out pacing on the bike to know how hard I can push and still have something in the tank for the run.

In all a good race and I'm really glad they were able to relocate it and not have to cancel.
