Total Time = 1h 25m 56s
Overall Rank = 36/108
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 7/9
Pre-race routine:

Arrived early, staged my stuff at transition.
Event warmup:

walked around to stay loose and stretched
  • 06m 17s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 04s / 100 yards

The current was strong due to lots of rain prior to the event. Tough going against the current, fast as Phelps heading with the current!
What would you do differently?:

I trained in the river prior to the event which helped me out a ton.
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s

I was gassed after the swim but transition went well.
What would you do differently?:

  • 48m 49s
  • 14.7 miles
  • 18.07 mile/hr

I didn't climb as well as I had when I practiced the loop.
What would you do differently?:

Work on swim to bike transition and train to recover better early in the ride
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s

Went smoothly
  • 28m 6s
  • 3.1 kms
  • 09m 04s  min/km

My first 1.5 miles was too slow.
What would you do differently?:

I need to train more bike/run workouts
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and walked to cool down

What limited your ability to perform faster:

more brick traiing

Event comments:

Will be back next year!

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
