Subject: stitches on knee and bending
Hi,

2 weeks ago i fell off my road bike going at 25 mph (40 kph) trying to avoid a deer that came out of nowhere. My left knee hit the pavement on the way down and opened up a large cut right above the knee cap. Fortunately there were no broken bones or knee cap, but doctors put in 2 layers of stitches. 1 for the tissues under the skin (these stitches would self dissolve) and 1 for the skin layer itself. now (2 weeks later), my outer stitches have finally come off and i can bend my knee just a fraction of normal bending range. I understand that the tight feeling i get during my attempt to bend is from the wound trying to heal.

I'm curious as to when i would be able to regain my full bending range like before. the doctors said about 1 month but they sound unsure. I'm hoping someone here would have or know of an experience like this that could provide some insight for me. as a biker, i'm anxious to get back on the road and free myself from house arrest, but i want to do it in a safe way. Right now, I definitely can't even bend my leg enough to get on a bike right now so it's a bit frustrating and discouraging.

i appreciate you reading this and providing any feedback you may have.

Thanks!

Injured and Immobile

With all due respect, I'd rely on the opinion of the doctor who actually stitched you up over some anonymous person on an Internet forum.

everyone is different - in that the doctors could say about a month - for some people it might be two weeks, and others it could be longer...they are never goign to be able to accurately predict how long it will take
