Subject: stitches on knee and bending Hi,
2 weeks ago i fell off my road bike going at 25 mph (40 kph ) trying to avoid a deer that came out of nowhere. My left knee hit the pavement on the way down and opened up a large cut right above the knee cap. Fortunately there were no broken bones or knee cap, but doctors put in 2 layers of stitches. 1 for the tissues under the skin (these stitches would self dissolve ) and 1 for the skin layer itself. now (2 weeks later ), my outer stitches have finally come off and i can bend my knee just a fraction of normal bending range. I understand that the tight feeling i get during my attempt to bend is from the wound trying to heal.
I'm curious as to when i would be able to regain my full bending range like before. the doctors said about 1 month but they sound unsure. I'm hoping someone here would have or know of an experience like this that could provide some insight for me. as a biker, i'm anxious to get back on the road and free myself from house arrest, but i want to do it in a safe way. Right now, I definitely can't even bend my leg enough to get on a bike right now so it's a bit frustrating and discouraging.
i appreciate you reading this and providing any feedback you may have.
Thanks!
Injured and Immobile
