Pursuit Racing
Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 24m 49s
Overall Rank = 131/287
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 21/31
Pre-race routine:

Up early for a quick breakfast and then relax until ready to leave for race. We stayed locally so it was only a couple of minutes away.

The event was modified from a tri to a duathlon due to the weather and threat of lightning. Got to say hi to a couple of friends including GreenMtnLabbit before the race.
Run
  • 13m 19s
  • 1.5 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

First run/bike/run for me so I kept it easy not knowing how it would effect the rest of the race.
Transition 1
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

A wet T1, but easy since there was no wetsuit to strip.
Bike
  • 42m
  • 14.5 miles
  • 20.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Held back a little starting out due to the weather. Once I was confident that there were no handling or traction issues I pushed a little harder, but definitely held back on curves and turns. Wasn't willing to risk a second crash in a month. :)
Overall very happy with the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

Wet shoes and socks are sticky.
Run
  • 25m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Held the run back a little due to issues from a previous race, pushed the last mile a bit to make up some time and felt good.
Post race
Warm down:

Met up with GreenMtnLabbit and chatted for a while. Had some pizza, donuts, cookies. (maybe not in that order.)

Event comments:

I really enjoy the races that are put on by this organization. I love the location and the volunteers are great. I've now done 4 events there and they've all be fun. Thanks to GreenMtnLabbit for bringing this group to my attention!

Wet race and last minute changes, but still a fun race! I guess the lesson to learn here is you can't prepare for everything. Great to see you at the race, hope to see you soon at another one!

Totally agree on the bike. I was really timid that it was going to be nasty but it turned out not that bad. Seems like they always put a good race on there too!

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
