Couldn't pass up this opportunity. Grew up near the area and misspent my youth at the Jersey shore. Haven't been back in forever.
Challenge puts on high quality events in Europe, so should be a lot of fun. Finish line on the Boardwalk!

Glad you started the page...I was going to do it last week......not officially signed up yet , but probably within next week or so( working finances from my IMLP trip this year lol)........... I grew up in central jersey and the jersey shore was my stomping ground as a kid. Still visit regularly and have family within an hour so it also is a no brainer. This course looks great and look forward to it and hope challenge lives up to their reputation.

I have been keeping a close eye on the FaceBook group as the RD has been trying to negotiate some sweet hotel deals. If I see anything there I will repost here. The RD has also promised to e-mail participants as soon as hotel deals are finalized.

I'm signed up. Will be my 3rd IM. Hoping to stay healthy. Last 2 attempts at LP were DNSs. I live in mechanicsburg pa but have a place in wildwood crest. It seemed like something I just couldn't pass up. I'm glad to see there are a few of you that are willing to break away from the "establishment" and do an non-IM branded race. I really don't need all there fluff and lately their corporate greed has disgusted me but I do love lake placid and would do that race in a heartbeat. For me it's about my own personal journey and not a brand. I'm sure it will be a great race!

Thinking of doing this one next year -- I like that the bike and run are flat. And that the swim is also flat. Plus I'm all about trying out new races! If I do it, it'll be iron distance No. 3 for me. Anybody know much about the number of entrants, such as will it sell out or how many they're going to allow and so on and so forth?

All I know is they are allowing about 1500 entrants and believe 100 relays.......It is a new race and not branded obviously so I think it will sell out eventually but could not venture a guess when

I would love to know the story behind Big Appa's quote in your signature. I have a feeling tequila is somehow involved.....

Yeah Challenge is a big company with a big name so I'm thinknig you're right. I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on signing up, though I'm not exactly sure what my hang up is. I am wondering if doing a June (albeit late June) 140.6 is a wise idea, living in Chicago. My other two were both in November so it provided for ample training time. Or perhaps I'm just being a big wussy and need to HTFU and do it already. Hmm ...

That one goes back years, but if I recall he was in a bar full of women and the only person who'd give him the time of day was an elderly fellow who just wanted to cop a feel. So, a regular Saturday night for Cord.

Alright guys, thiiiiiis close to signing up. This would be my first 140.6. Have done 4 HIM, have been thinking of making the jump for a few years now. Signed up for IMLou in 2011, but did not start because I decided to get married that summer instead

Anyway, from North Jersey so this is hard to pass up!! I'm just a little nervous about training in the spring - it's going to be a lot of time on the trainer :-/ On the bright side, Bassman HIM should be a perfectly timed tune up race!

I've decided to race so we'll be making the trip up, so you should too so there's more BTers to yell at on the course.

Officially registered! I'm running the Philadelphia Marathon next weekend, but after that I'm going to sit down, figure out training plans and tune up races. Yay!

If flights are half the price to New York (rather than Philly), how hard would it be to get from NYC to AC?

well from Newark airport and easy ride down the Garden state parkway about 2:30 +/- ..........keep in mind a lot of traffic in the summer heading south on friday.

Laguardia and JFK would add about an hour +/- traffic

Thanks mucho. I didn't even think about EWR. I shall look into that!

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.

The Boulder Peak bike course is legendary. It is, literally and named as such, one of the toughest bike legs in the country.
