  • 1056 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Foggy swim. Hard to see the second buoy. The short beach run messed me up. Took a while to get back in to a rhythm. Very, weedy. Tangled up a few times
What would you do differently?:

Work on pace.
Transition 1
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

Different T1. Had to put on a long sleeve shirt, Camelbak, riding gloves and socks.
What would you do differently?:

Plan a little more.
Bike
  • 1h 37m
  • 15 miles
  • 9.28 mile/hr
Comments:

It was brutal. Most walked the hills.
What would you do differently?:

It would take a lot for me to ride this whole course. Weight reduction.........
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Wet socks from stream crossing made it interesting getting shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 59m 1s
  • 4.5 miles
  • 13m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

First have was a "speed" hike. First section was practically straight up. Ran where I could. Very, rocky and roots. Best was at the spray chalk "TOP" at the peak. Then the downhill started. Rough on the knees. Fell once, better than I thought. Two ice, cold water crossings at the end. Felt better at the finish then I expected.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, ran smart.
Post race
Warm down:

Recoverite, stretching and walking.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just being me.

Event comments:

First Xterra. Very, challenging for me. Felt great I was able to do it.

First podium finish in a tri. Third in AG

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?

The XTERRA off-road triathlons consist of a lake swim, a mountain bike trail ride, and a trail run. I decided to try the AZ Xtreme Desert XTERRA Tri as my 1st off-road triathlon, and my 3rd tri ever.
