Fall is here folks with the holidays right behind, time to knuckle down and drop some lbs before the "hustle and bustle" kicks in.

So who is coming with this month? Monthly goals, weekly weigh ins on Wednesdays.

Starting weight and goal weight for the end of Oct.

I'm back...

10/1 - 234

October Goal = 220
2013 Goal = 200

Running out of time after being stuck on in a yo-yo trend for the summer. My 2013 goal is probably out of reach, but I'm going to cling to it for another month and see what happens.

I'm in. I need to kickstart my training after some time off, and I need some motivation.

I'll weigh-in tonight/tomorrow morning, for a base weight (I know it's around 218-220). But my goal is 210 for the month, stretch goal of 205.

I'd like to get to sub-200 by year end, but that's going to be very tough with the holidays on the horizon.

10/1/13 - 218

Goal - 212

This month is a lot of training with a fun ride in the middle. October 11th, I am riding for a Company in Fresno, Ca a 70 mile bike ride. It is not a race, but a chance to get the company's name out there. Should be fun and I am looking forward to it. Today, I will be registering for my first Marathon. I am doing LA. So, the rest of these months are mostly focused on training and getting my mileage up for that. I soooo excited to run my first marathon. With the focus on training for that, I am really looking at what I eat too.

This next month has the opportunity to be a great months for weight loss. I need to stay focused and choose well for every meal. MFP has been a much better resource for me and I enjoy watching everyone's progress. If you are a member friend me: zaidnohj. I will also include you in our group there. and you can friend other members of this thread and see their progress.

I LOVE THE FALL!!!!

So in (if y'all can take a new face )

Original starting weight: 219
September end weight: 213
October end goal weight: 208 (taking it slow and steady)

Great season for outdoor running here in upstate NY -- cool mornings, gorgeous leaves, etc. Hoping some long runs will get that weight loss kickstarted.

I'd like to play :-)

Male, 5'7", 171 lbs. Goal for end of Oct is 165 lbs.

Plan is to cut the junk carbs that have made it into my diet and do lots of low intensity spinning. I started at 210 lbs a few years ago and have been stuck in the 170-180 range for two years.

I've been off BT for a while, but now I'm back. Weighed in today at 153.2, the highest I've been in a long time. I'm just barely able to avoid opening a vein. I've had plantar fasciitis, then plantar fasciitis and a bone spur and currently have plantar fasciitis, a bone spur and a stress fracture of the heel. To say this is depressing is an understatement. So, I've been eating. To go along with the no-running and no-biking. My goal for October is to get to 148. Even that number brings me close to tears.

I saw that someone else on this thread will be training for IMMT. Me too. My podiatrist says I'll be able to do it. He also says I'll be back running in October and I'll believe that when I actually get to hit the streets. My next doctor appointment is tomorrow and it will be interesting to hear what he says. My heel still hurts, but I've been in that stupid walking boot for seven weeks now and I'm tired of it. The moral of this story is 1) don't let plantar fasciitis go on too long before seeing a doctor and 2) don't take the simple act of walking for granted.

Good luck and happy losing to all.

I'm in! I just signed up for Eagleman in 2014, so I need to use the off season to drop this extra weight I've been carrying around for the past year before training kicks in. I'm a bit delayed, but here are my numbers:

October 1st: 135
October goal: 130

This may be a bit ambitious since I'll be gone on vacation next week (I'll miss the weigh in on Wednesday, but will report in the following week), but the plan is to get in some hiking and such, so hopefully it won't have too much of an effect. I've also been slacking on workouts lately, but I hope to get back into a routine once I get back as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome Shermbelle. I've been here before and have been needing to get back for awhile. I started in tri because of my weight. In 2009 I was over 300 lbs. Over the next 2 years I worked hard, changed my diet and got down to 230. 2010 & 2011 were great. Lots of PR's, Clyde podiums and a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately, a job change for the better, resulted in loss of training time and falling back into the bad eating habits of the past. Over the past year I've seen the scale going the wrong way as well as my race times. Hopefully this is the push I need to get back on track and start taking better care of myself.

Never thought I'd geek out over a scale, but my Withings Smart Body Analyzer scale arrived yesterday and I got to use it for the first time today.  Got my weight, body fat percentage, and heart rate shown to me and then the data automatically appears in my TrainingPeaks and Sport Tracks apps.  Very cool!

Now if it would only do the work to lower those numbers for me.

Big test coming up for me.  I'll be out of town for work for the next 2 weeks.  Hoping I can continue the weight loss over this time.

I don't think that the workouts will be too hard to get in.  I'm also planning on buying a bunch of groceries so that I can better control my calories and food quality.  Toughest part will be making smart choices when eating out and keeping the beer to a minimum.

Anyone have any good tips for weight loss while traveling?
