Pre-race routine:

got to site very early 615am; setup then stood in line at porta potty for ages!
Event warmup:

none - planned to swim but due to above didnt get chance. sw waved arms and stretched triceps.
Swim
  • 09m 2s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

thi was a C race purely for swim experience - it was cold so lots of acclimatization needed NOTE B2B is colder! - so got in front and middle and prepared for some action - and I got it! Just focused on my stroke and keeping calm and went ok. come B2B there will be 140 of us! Rest of swim remembered key thoughts and stuck it out to finish.
What would you do differently?:

maybe try to push harer and improve times???
Transition 1
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

great suit off - didnt feel dizzy - kicking helped? forgot the hill and had bike in big gear - DOH! - eventually cranked it up there :-)
What would you do differently?:

remember gear!
Bike
  • 46m 8s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.51 mile/hr
Comments:

this was a blast this year - ast thru every turn - pushing on the flat roads. I was probably at 80pc but didnt feel exhausted at finish.
What would you do differently?:

if this was an A race push harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 37s
Comments:

this is such a short Tx area hence fast times. remembered to take feet out :-)
What would you do differently?:

nothing - DO NOT consider jumping dismount!
Run
  • 24m 27s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

AWESOME! even with hills and fast bike I rocked this even with 80pc effort! kept focusing on pulling heels/form. remembered to run my race not others. One of my fastest time even on hills!
What would you do differently?:

nothing, except push on an A race.
Post race
Warm down:

quick walk around the water/food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

this was an C Race.

Event comments:

this is my second year and I will be back to beat my times. Although this is classed as challenging I feel it is a great course and fast too - note what goes up must come down.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

The triathlon made a lot of sense as I could fit the training around early mornings and other times that wouldn't eat too much into my family time. Things never go completely to plan do they?

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

What is it that brought me to my knees one Sunday morning and then kicked me into a hole of self loathing and apparent depression? My apparent salvation was my old blue Fuji Royale II.

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.

A description of my experiences during my first triathlon. It was a great experience. I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been.
