How am I going to stay away from these delicacies?

If you figure it out, let me know.
My office neighbour has 3 bowls out in the open; 1 x candy corn, 1 x kit kats, 1 x M&M's.

It's killing me.

OK, this might sound a little cray-cray, but it works for me: don't break the seal.  If you don't allow yourself any, you can't get on the HC train.  If you have to hand that stuff out, buy something you hate, or *gasp* give something healthy :)

Don't buy it till a day or two in advance!  And if you're really concerned, I'm with Switch on buying stuff you don't like.

On the other hand, I'm really not a fan of depriving myself....so I buy a day or two in advance, won't open the bag till the night of, will have a piece or two (making sure to pick the ones that are really worth it), and give out big handfuls until the rest are gone -- I refuse to have leftovers!

The worst for me is that my better half can't resist a bargain.  So, while the day itself is hard enough, the weeks after see a couple extra bags of REALLY good stuff find their way into the house.

Switch, as usual, is spot on.  At least don't open more than ONE bag at a time.    At least then you have a fighting chance of burning it off before it catches up with you!

Matt

Very good question! Fun size Snickers are the worst. They're so cute, so little, just one has only 80 calories. What's 80 calories
amongst friends? Hardly a drop in the bucket! Oh that was good. I'll just have one more. Okay, *one* more. Alright, I swear, this is the last
one tonight. Wait, that's what, 320 calories already? May as well make it an even 400. Tomorrow I won't have any! Scout's honor.

If I had a dollar for every time I've said that, I'd be a very wealthy woman!

I'm with Switch - don't break the seal and only buy the stuff you don't like. Lucky for my neighbor kids, I don't like peanut butter cups!

My one true candy weakness... back when I had the metabolism to support it, I would buy bags of them during the "post-holiday" clearances.

Sometimes you just have to say WTF.  It isn't like I do it every day so I am not going to lose any sleep over a handfull of candy corn and a couple Mounds bars.  Ok, and maybe a couple York Peppermint Patties.  Once a year isn't going to cause the earth to stop rotating on it's axis.

My weak willpower (read: Sugar Addict) has forced me to either a) buy it and give it to my husband to put away until 5pm, Oct 31, or b) take great pride in seeing the still-sealed box sitting on the shelf, and only opening it when the first kid comes to the door. The last two years, b) has worked surprisingly well. And I've started bringing the leftovers to work the next day and leaving them out in the kitchen. They're usually gone by 10 a.m.

Fortunately my son does not like candy that much so I pretty much had free reign over his trick or treat haul.  Unfortunately, he now says he's not that interested in going out anymore.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

All you have to do is say you’re a triathlete and you intimidate the whole world. No matter how much you bench press or what you lift or how many squats you can do.
