Age Group Rank = 11/29
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast - Banana and wheat bagel with pnut butter. Set up transition. Did a walkthough for T1 and T2. Found John A and we had a quick prayer for the race.
Event warmup:

swam 200m for warmup in the outdoor heated pool.
Swim
  • 08m 24s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters
Comments:

Great pool. Nice exit. THey didn't do an inwater start so you had to jump in.
What would you do differently?:

I wasn't able to get any pool time after Labor day so I was not in top shape.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Didn't really have me shoes set up on the right side of the bike for a quick mount. Set up was for left side or flying leap neither of which I ever practice. Lost a few second trying to figure out what to do.
What would you do differently?:

Need to make sure everything is correct and I visualized the mount during set up.
Bike
  • 40m 24s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Nice course.I only had 2 people pass me. I passed a good number of people but they were mostly women or men on mountain/hybrid bikes. Didn't have the motivation to push hard since there was usually no one in sight to catch.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

T2 went very well no issues.
Run
  • 26m 50s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Steep descent and climb up to street level. The neighborhood circuit is not bad. A decent uphill on the first street then it flattens out and is slightly downhill as you come back around the loop. The trail run fro the culdesac back to the finish is the tough part with some steep up and down and a big hill to get up near the finish. When you get to the top of the hill you can see the finish but you have to go past it on a sandy trail and then around and into the chute.
Post race
Warm down:

Gatorage and stretching. They have PapaJohns, fruit, orios, chocolate chip cookies.

Event comments:

Lots of potential as a race venue. The outdoor pool would have been a worse experience if it had been colder. The run course is hard but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The is an end of season race and so you have plenty of time to train for it.

Will I ever be able to run again? Will any type of exercise/physical therapy fix this? I would love to commit to a therapy regimen that would help this if there was some hope of doing more running.
