I was doing great until I looked at the swim route. Deep breaths. :-)

Christy

Whats wrong?

LOL, it's my first OWS in a race that is over 500m. :-) I will be fine, but I just had a momentary freak out. I'd rather get that out of the way now, than on Sunday!

You can do it Christy i assume with your AG you have atleast a pacing of 2:00/100m or less , the pacing based on cut off time is 3:20/100m or maybe even more. You can rest every 200 meters if your want and you will still make good time.I assume you will be wearing a wetsuit so you dont need a kayak to hold on too just thread the water for a minute and keep going .

You already swam to the gross 288 lake where vegetation is all over you and you did not panic you will be ok.

Thanks

Per the athlete guide, we only need them for the run. That's consistent with the WTC 70.3's I've done this year.

Fulls are the only ones requiring it now and even IMTX didn't require it although it was "strongly suggested"

Lots of twists and turns on the run.  I saw several people who were backtracking last year because they missed turns.  Hopefully they'll have more volunteers on the run course telling us to turn.

The day is over and new one is here. It was a fun race yesterday, the bike damn near killer me but I mustered through and finished at 5:33. I need more base hour in so I'm not dead after the bike for the run. I hope everyone did well and stayed injury free yesterday.

I feel the same the bike was tough with all that wind.
I also had a rough swim (dam waves from boats crashing over me).
My run started reall good but at about mile 8 all I could do was finish. Nothing left in the tank. Last three mile took forever. I wanted to finish under 5:20 but did't make it ( 5:29:15).

But all in all it was a good day I finished injury free

The water wasn't as calm as I had hope and there was more wind that I would have liked on the bike, but overall it was a great first 70.3 for me! I walked much more than I would have liked on that final lap, but it is what it is. Great race and awesome spectators!

I had a crap race.  All in all though it was a beautiful day to spend 5 hours outside.  On to marathon training.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
