I'm 6'1 and also am a bit of a gearhead. Up until this past May I was driving an old beater 1998 Chevy Silverado Z-71 extended cab. I loved it. I bought it outright in 2004. I'm not sure what I liked more, not having a car payment or not having to worry about scratches, dings and dirt on it. I have a vehicle that my work provides so my personal truck doesn't get used much. We basically used it for towing the boat or hauling crap like my 4 wheeler or supplies for a project.

My wife is a bit a a preppy and didn't appriciate "redneck status" of my Silverado, so she told me to get new truck. I went with the 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 Z-71, 4wd, crew cab. It's got tons of space and my 4 wheeler fits in the bed no problems. It rides like a dream and tows like a mule. The rear seat folds up and I can fit 2 bikes inside the cab if needed. I've taken it on a few road trips now and I'm satisified with the fuel economy considering its a full sized truck. If my budget would have allowed for it, I would have gone with the Toyota Tundra 4wd crew cab. In my opinion that is the best truck on the road, but it's just too pricey for me.

Once the kids are off to college (10 more years) I'll trade it in and get the Ferrari I've always wanted to own.
