I'm doing B2B, and it's going to be 37 at the start, 40 tops when we hop on the bike.

I bought some embrocation. now I'm wondering whether to slap it on before the Swim (just the feet) or just on the legs in t1.

I know, nothing new on race day, but I do horribly in the cold.

so any tips and experiences are much appreciated!

Do not put it on before the swim. It activates with water. Your legs will be on fire. It takes about two mins into a shower for me to realize I forgot to take it off.

Thanks. I tested it out during my short run in 45 degree weather. nothing seemed to happen, though now that I'm done, my legs are prickly. hmm.

From what I remember it takes 40-60mins to hit full burn. I remember using some on a 2hr ride and then going to hot yoga without thinking about it. Ouch.

A cream that lights your legs on fire. Do not mix w/ chamois cream. Mainly used in bike racing, specifically CX.

It will be faster to put on bike tights or leg warmers over your tri shorts and it will keep you warmer than embro.

If you do horribly in the cold best to dress in layers and be warm on the bike so you can do your best.

IMFL was cold in 2010 when I did it...bike started in the 40s.

I wore toe covers, wool socks, leg warmers, arm warmers, vest, jacket, gloves, and a headband under my helmet.

When it warmed up I first took off my jacket and took off layers as the day progressed.

Good luck but being cold is miserable so dress warmly.
