So far I'm registered for Xterra Guam in March and I'm waiting for registration to open up for our local marathon. Other than that, finances will dictate what I register for. I will definitely participate in all the local events I can, but we don't have a 70.3 distance and after my Olympic distance next month, I'm looking to knock out a HIM, which we don't have here.

2014 will be a different approach for me. Last year I put all my eggs in two baskets with the Boston Marathon and IMLP. Pulled a hamstring at Boston, had a horrible HIM 3 weeks later, and wound up pulling out of LP due to business conflicts. This year I am going to do a lot of sprints and probably a half at the end of the season. Last year I had very little fun and trying to balance marathon and IM training with family and work was stressful. This year is going to be fun again.

The only for sure race I have on the schedule is IM St. George 70.3 in May, and the SLC HM in April. Will probably do the Utah Half 70.3 In August. I have several events that will depend on lotteries if I get in, and I will wait to plan the rest of my season based on those lotteries for the Triple Bypass bike ride in July, and LOTOJA in Septemeber. Will probably do a fall half marathon as well.

I mostly do the same local races every year, so my schedule is pretty predictable:

Jan: 4 mile Ringling Bridge run

Feb: Scrub Jay 5K Trail Run

Mar: Sarasota Half Marathon; Springfest 5K

Apr: TBD

May: Either Longboat Key or FIT sprint tri; outside chance I may do the Indy Mini HM

Jun: Run for the Turtles 5K on Siesta Key

Jul: Englewood Sprint Tri

Aug: TBD

Sep: Venice Sprint Tri

Oct: Either Longboat Key or Sharks sprint tri on Siesta Key; Bill's Beer Run 5 mile with the track club

Nov: TBD

Dec: TBD

I'll probably be adding at least one more 5K road race early in the year and would like to add another sprint tri in either Jun or Aug. I also may add another "fun" trail run. One of our local bike shops does monthly TT's during the summer, so that's also something I'd like to try sometime.

Independance Day One mile swim (bay)

July - Stone Harbour Tri, sprint

           OC Masters Swim  - 1 mile(ocean)

Aug - Tuckahoe Tri - sprint

           Cedar Island 5K swim

Sept - AC Tri, Oly

Outside chance of relay for Challenge AC

Making a move up in distance next year to olympic's and have a number of possiblities but nothing solidified yet. These are my options by month which I'll probably pick 1 or 2 each month:

JUN- FIT Family Series at Deer Creek , Wendy's International, Tri Tech Oly
JUL- FIT Family Series at Caesars Creek , Cincinnati Triathlon
SEP- Great Buckeye Challenge, Deer Creek Fall Classic

Probably will run the Air Force Half Marathon again in SEP.

June: IM CdA.

There are local races leading up to that in March, April, and May, but focus will be on June 29, CdA.

I don't think I raced enough leading up to my first IM, so will likely do all/most of the local races in the months leading up to CdA.

Mine is pretty skewed toward the late season -- September and even into October. All tentative, and likely I'll strike several off the list as they approach. Not "races" per se, but events.

March:

Gran Fondo EphrataElbe Multi-Strada Loop (I'm hosting this one)

June:

5-Mile Lake Triathlon

July:

Trofeo Strada Bianca (hosted by Hampsten Cycles)

August:

Gran Fondo Wintrop (this one would be close to my daughter's first birthday, so it depends on when it actually falls)

September:

Bonney Lake Triathlon
Passport to Pain

October:

Oregon Coast Gravel Epic

Will someone PLEASE call the Army and tell them to set my next training date already? I'd like to plan my season!!!

So far it looks like:

Feb:

Ragnar Relay Florida Keys

Ragnar Relay Del Sol Ultra (maybe)

March:

Two local bike races (also maybe)

Sept:

Rev3 Cedar Point Full (hopefully)

I really want to register for more and get this season set!

I haven't registered for anything yet, but here is what I'm looking at so far:

May: Providence RI HM, Spartyka 5K trail run, LPASF 5K, AngelRide (not a race, it's a two-day bike ride across CT)
June: Rev 3 Quassy Olympic (?), Mystic River Tri. Niantic 10K
July: Jamestown HM, Tri-Quonset
August: Niantic Bay Tri, DKH Give it a Tri
September: Firmman Half-Iron (my first!), Surftown HM
October: Newport HM

I'll also probably do a few of the Lake Terramuggus sprints.

My season will start taking shape around my 2 "A" races. Ironman 70.3 Kansas in June and Ironman 70.3 Silverman in October. Probably 2 sprints and 2 Olympics thrown in there with a half marathon in September.

January: Walt Disney World Dopey Challenge (5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2 on successive days)

Rest of the year: ???

I want to do a HiM next year, but the timing with the local race sucks for me, so possibly Augusta.  And then a fall Half Marathon.  Maybe seriously consider an Ironman for 2015.

Tentative schedule:

Triathlons:

Sprints in March, May, June, July, and probably September

First Olympic - June

Half Marathons: I'm going to try for 7 as part of the "California Half Series", however I don't have a schedule planned out yet.

The only thing I'm actually registered for so far is Eagleman in June. Considering running events in March/April and the Kinetic sprint in May as a tune-up for Eagleman. I'd like to do the Beach to Battleship 70.3 again next fall, and I'll probably do a few Olys in August and September -- maybe Nation's Tri.

September 13-CP HIM (if previous weekend doesn't work out). This will not end up being the final schedule but it is at least a framework of races I would like to do if everything works out. First time in three years that I don't have an IM on the schedule as the A race. It definitely allows for a lot more flexibility.

Hey Jason, that is quite a race schedule!

What does your training look like between races  when you have 4 HIMs in 7 weeks?  If you qualify at Muncie, will you still do Steelhead?

Good question.

I'm not sure I have the answer as I have never tried a schedule like this one but one of my goals for next year is to race more. I have always been amazed at how quickly one can recover from a HIM effort so I would expect to be back at normal training load 4-5 days after a race. We will have to see how the body reacts.

I think it is unlikely that I will do the HIM on July 27 so that would make it 3 HIMs in 7 weeks plus an Olympic.

Yes, I am planning on Steelhead even if I were to qualify at Muncie. Like I said, I want to race.

Caveat... I give my coach a lot of power over my race schedule. I have sent this to him but still don't have final approval. I got a, "looks pretty good," from him but not complete approval.

I think that is an awesome plan.

I have commented several times on how much easier/more relaxed planning for next year is without an IM on the schedule. For one thing, I didn't have to sign up a year in advance.........
