I'd certainly be up for a challenge.  The last few I've been involved in have helped me a tremendous amount and have been great fun.

How about a total distance challenge? All sports count. Post what you want to commit to?

I've been looking at this forum the last few days with the hope of finding something interesting. I'm in for a challenge. If it turns out to be a total distance one, I'm going for 400 miles.

To hit my goal, I'm going further in all 3 sports this month than I did last month. That's the challenge I set for myself: increase all 3 distances so they beat my October numbers.

And I would love a 'virtual' run. Could be neat to know that when I'm out for a run, some of you are running at that same time, too.

Was thinking about this more last night, and if this is the one we go with, I would reccomend seperating swim distance from Run/Bike - i.e. I will commit to 300 miles Run/Bike, and 10k in the pool for Nov - otherwise, swimming will most likely get lost

Total distance sounds fun, I'm in.  Let me calculate my distances.  Who wants to be the spreadsheet maker?

Since I proposed it, I think it would be only fair if I was the spreadhseet maker. I will be breaking out the disciplines, so when we post our commitments, please post as:

Swim - XX,XXX Yards
Bike - XXX Miles
Run - XXX Miles
Total - Total Miles/Total Yards

Benihana
Swim - 10,000 Yards
Bike - 200 Miles
Run - 75 Miles
Total - 300/10k

Hmmm, let me think about it.  I will probably be on the trainer a lot and I don't have anything currently set up to track distance while I'm on the trainer. I have a Garmin 305 with a cadence monitor and antenna stick but it is not installed on any of my bikes right now and I'm not greatest with tech stuff!

They may....BUT - This is definately NOT meant to be an "I am better than you/I train more than you" challege, simply more a goal/strech goal for each of us to keep on track during November

I usually use November as a run only month since I have a marathon coming up on Dec 7. So can I only committ to run miles in this challenge? I have never done a BT challenge before, but I need something to keep me accountable!

Yeah usually you set yourself a goal and the challenge is getting to 100% completion on said goal.  That way everyone is equalized by aiming for what they think they can do in a month.

That is what I think every time I open one of those post your totals for the month in TriTalk. I never post anything! But here all I'm working on is consistency and we're all in this to help each other so no worries!

Ok, sounds good. And I will still try to install my cadence monitor cuz it's silly to have it sitting on the shelf. Maybe I can add in the time it takes me to try to install that dang contraption and get some really good bike numbers .

If we can do total time, that would help. Then I could count my after surgery PT and hobbles..... in the "run" time and do miles for bike and swim.

Any thoughts?

If that is easier for you to track, I am sure we can figure something out for tracking. Just post what your goals are in the other thread and I will add you to the tracking sheet

The Boulder Peak bike course is legendary. It is, literally and named as such, one of the toughest bike legs in the country.
