A few of us BTers have done this in years past--in 2010 Malgal and I actually finished novels!

When you take the pressures and pre-determined expectations you have away, and add in a supportive environment with tons of useful tips and tools, it's surprising how doable writing a novel in a month is. NaNoWriMo (what the organization is called; they also do Screenplay in a Month, Poem every day for a month at different times) is a great organization, and yeah, it really is free.

Anyway, if you've ever thought about writing ... this is a good place to start.

I did this a couple of years ago, and now have new found appreciation for all those authors who toil away each day...I was thinking about attempting it this year, but I don't have a solid enough storyline to work with and nothing in open publisher calls was grabbing my attention

but I am an awesome cheerleader!

Wrote one years ago when I was living in Beijing and really bored in the winter. Never tried to publish--no time or interest. I don't get bored anymore, or have time for much besides work, sleep, training, and keeping house from being condemned. Instead of writing an hour or two a day, I train and sleep. Probably saving the world from bad writing. There's plenty enough of that already. My record was, I think, forty pages in one night. Cannot vouch for quality, though!

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
