Subject: Good Bike Fit in the NoVa area?
Hi everyone, noob here trying to get my act together. I've been toying with triathlons the last few years and I'm trying to finally get serious about it.

Can anyone suggest a good place to get a bike fit in the NoVa (Arlington) area? I know we have tons of shops (Tri360, Bonzai, Big Wheels, Conte's, etc.) in the area but I'm not looking to break the bank as I'm just a poor college student. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Also, I'm riding a 2012 Quintana Roo Kilo C. I'm sure there is a difference in cost between a road bike fit and a tri bike fit, I'm just not sure the best place to go for it.

Thanks!

I've had really good luck with Performance Bicycle. There are two locations that I know of. One in Fairfax Circle on Rt 50 and one in Springfield by the mall.

Have you checked Bicycle Pro Shops?
http://bicycleproshop.com/locations/

I haven't done a fit there (but there are a lot of reviews you can check out online). But for some basic maintenance I had done, their prices didn't seem bad to me.

Ask for Clovis at Fresh Bikes in Arlington. I did a fit with him last spring and have been very happy. He's a former Olympian and really knows what he's doing.

Hey bro, I have used Sport Fit Lab out of Herndon. It is a husband and wife team who started a business fitting and training people. Noobs or pros. They get very in depth with measurements, flexibility, etc. I was amazed to find how much I gained and lost simply by moving the seat up/down by one inch. They have a special device that measures your body and your motions to help choose the best bike for you. It takes about 1.5 hours to 2 hours to get fitted. It is well worth your time and money. They also coach in running and swimming. They both are very educated and professional not to mention the Ironman memorabilia on the walls. I high recommend them ! Here is their link, give them a buzz.

I just got a fit done with James out at Bike Doctor Frederick, MD and was very happy, they use the GURU machine. It's a little outside of NOVA but I thought it was worth the drive.

I am in the market for a new road bike, at several local bike stores I will test ride several bikes. Other than basic fit and components, how should I compare them while doing a test ride?

We are often asked the question, "What size frame should I buy" and the answer is “it depends”. I know that’s not the answer you want to hear, but hopefully the following will shed some more light.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."
