Has anyone seen any calendars released for 2014. With the exception of WTC races and hand full of Setup Events tri's, I haven't heard any dates.

Any intel out there?

I'm still waiting for a date for Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl. Really enjoyed that one last year.
I know the Set-up GTS was looking to add some races this year, but it looks like they lost their Half and only added a pool swim sprint in March, so not too much new going on there.

I was hoping for more GTS races, especially more Olympic distance. I don't have much interest in a series of sprint races...

Agree. I'm not sure how much of a "Series" it really is anyway. On their facebook page people are asking for the 2013 series results and not getting any answers. Kind of disappointing that they promote it as a series with each race having points toward season standings and no update as to season points all year and now no mention of it and no response 2 months after the series ended.

Here's the link to the Xterra Series, races are still filling in as each week and local race director submits for 2014. Key early season dates relevant to Georgia for the off-road races.

4/6 - Hickory Knob State Park, McCormick, SC
4/12 - Tiger, Auburn, AL - new venue
4/26 - Fort Yargo State Park, Winder GA (a must as this is the only GA Xterra of the year)

I thought they had a new site.
Could be a bad transfer of race results, or visited the wrong site???
either way more OLYs would be nice.

I love turtle crawl and Jekyll island. My favorite place to visit in Georgia. I did some digging and found this info for Jekyll 2014 events: http://www.jekyll-island-family-adventures.com/upcoming-events.html

This calendar indicates that the turtle crawl/nest fest will be March 18. Weird, if that's the case that's so early and I'm guessing if this is the date that it'll hurt the participation. The beach in May is beautiful with perfect weather. March? Not so much but I'll still be there either way.

Andi

EDIT: March 18 is a Tuesday next year so I'm pretty sure that calendar is wrong, thankfully.

Thanks for the update. Would much rather see another May race but I'll be there either way too! I better dust off the wet suit for this one if its March 18th.

I agree about the end of March. That would be fun for the first weekend of spring break.

Looks like the Set-Up Events series schedule is still in flux. They have now added a Spring Fling Sprint and Olympic to their website but no date or location yet. Also added something called a "Sprint double" in Macon that is a SWIM / RUN / BIKE / RUN / SWIM format.

Now this sounds like a blast of a format. A duathlon with a swim start and finish, AWESOME.......I may even consider this even if it is on pavement.

Since I posted that faux date I've been looking for a nearby early season race to give me a push goal coming off winter training. They're all in pools: no thanks! At this point I agree with you - I'd take it in march but that's dreaming!

.

They just updated the series info and awards/rankings for the series. Looks like the RD, Crisp, just had his first baby in the last month. Awards getting mailed out. Should be an interesting series this year.

Yep, good to see the season results. Looks like not a lot of people raced the minimum 3 race requirement to be eligible for awards. Maybe they can do a little better job of promoting the series aspect for 2014. Looking forward to it!
