Well, got my first half on saturday at the HITS in Havasu. So I haven't been too focused.

Probably the Deuces Wild in Show Low and the HITS again (that one, I'll consider doing the full distance). Not sure yet.
How was the bike course in Havasu? Is it 2 loop 1/2, 4 loop full?

i am going to try to do the xterra trail races if schedule permits. i have been having a blast running trails lately.

also planning to buy a usac license and do road races and time trials this year. maybe do a few crits but i am nervous about those.

and of course probably do the random triathlon or road race. nothing major planned yet.

Doing road cycling events is great, but crits give some serious thought, depends upon what sport you are truley focusing on... some crit series have a novice section and you can get a feel for the event and loaf at the back, but when you loaf, there is no training benefit... then when you do the intermediate and advanced, you're dealing with the alpha males and the risk of crashing is significantly higher. I personally tend to avoid them, there are other ways of getting crit like training w/o the risk to self and equipment.

Short road races, or group rides could be included... give the Valley of the Sun 3 day stage race a try, it's in Feb.... you can enter as CAT 5, mostly beginners. But be prepared to be humbled even by CAT 5 guys.

This is about what my year going to be like, minus Nathan's plus the Mountain Man Sprint & Oly. (Anything to get to Flagstaff during the summer!!)

My goal is to PR every race I do this year...

I"m not one to plan out a long race calendar.  I've got one thing on my mind right now.  My first Ultra.

Old Pueblo 50mi.  Lotsa' vert and rugged trail.  March 1st.

Training is going well, I'm not injured (which is a rarity for me) and I'm really looking forward to the experience.

If I still want to run after that, then I might go for BQ attempt at the Mountains2Beach marathon in May.

Then, maybe.... I'll start riding my bike again and looking for some good Tri's.  I tend to go for Fall tri's since summer gets too hot to do too much running and cycling is easier when it's warm.  Maybe Dueces Wild in October and then I definitely want to do the Patagonia Tri again in November

Send me a PM if you want to chat about road racing, or check out the Peloton forum. The road racing season has started already ;-)
