After an almost perfect race day I finished my 5th Ironman in a staggering 11:57:39. My previous best was 14:22 so I was blown away! Have a read if you're so inclined http://trifattytri.blogspot.com/2013/11/ironman-arizona-love-story....

Awesome job dude! thats an amazing time!!! What training plan did you follow for this race? Was your volume much higher then in years past or do you think it was just the course playing to your strength?

Thanks!

My coach had me on a fairly consistent plan. Monday Off, Tuesday tempo run, Wed Swim/Bike, Thurs Bike/Run, Fri Swim, Sat Long ride, Sun Long run.

The volume was not much higher than previous races but the intensity was MUCH higher. I found this increased speed was great for my race. I was so used to running and cycling fast that when I was just jogging on race day if felt SO easy. I do think the course played into my strengths on the bike but the run was very similar to most.
