From back in the TT forum, here it is. The challenge is to run a minimum of 1 mile per day for the winter holidays, (Thanksgiving thru New Years Day) but you have to run every day, even if it's just a mile. Chances are some of the time once you brave the cold and get out there you'll go an extra mile or two, or 3... This way if you stay committed to the group even those tough holiday party days you'll jump out for at least a mile. A mile definitely cancels out whatever desserts you might have

Today (Saturday, 11/30) will be day 1 of the challenge. Good luck to all!!!

Day 1 for me is still pending. Put in a new garage door opener today so no chance to get out there when the kid was napping. Going to do a trainer ride later and sneak in that mile. Yesterday the 1 mile turned into 3.5, so today is JUST one.

I'm starting today, 12/1. I had food poisoning issues the past couple days and am just starting to feel better. Yay for running through December!

I'm in. Missed TG day but didn't see challenge then. 4 miles Friday and 5 miles today. I'll do a double one day to make up for missing TG.

I'll give it a shot.  Today's 3.5 mile run was nine days in a row.  I would love to keep it going through December.

163, awesome. Short of waking up I can't think of anything I've done 163 days in a row. Way to get after it.

Hahaha!!!!  It's been pretty fun.  It just kinda happened.  I wasn't planning on streaking.  Now, I can't imagine my day without it.

I guess I'll have to opt out of this one since I missed my sat run and have 3 definite no run days in Dec. Good luck to everyone who commits to the challenge.

Cathy, it's ok if you can't make a day or two. You can still give it a go!

Did 1.1 miles tonight after a 30 minute trainer ride. It was cold, so it was a fast mile

I'll join this challenge. I am in a Facebook-based running challenge that started on Friday and runs through Christmas. I like the idea of extending the streak to New Years.

Got in 11 miles today.  It was rainy, cold, and very windy.  I think I've earned some couch time.

Hear ya. Did 1/2 hour in 36*F of some rainy, snowy mixture. Could hardly see with my head lamp, it was just kind of a foggy mist in front of me for 3.4 miles. Time to dispose of whatever leftover thanksgiving desserts are in the kitchen.

Ok! I am in. I may miss a couple of days. But, let's suck it up and get it done.

8.5 done! (Day 1 of 1). My game plan is if I miss a day in December, I will make it up with multiple runs.

I'm in, but I was in already anyway. Everyday running is a different animal. If you've never tried it before, I might suggest you step back your mileage by at least 5% for this first week to ten days. Let your body adjust to the lack of rest days. Be hyper-vigilant and don't be ashamed of doing the minimum to maintain the streak. And do not be ashamed to bail if your body says you need to.

I'm in, almost by default. I've currently run for 126 straight days as of Sunday afternoon.

December 1 was 2.3 miles. I had intentions of going 6-7, but I was just a complete disaster from two nights of very little sleep, plus a lot of beer and Scotch at a football tailgate on Saturday.

The ones that will be tough for me will be around December 29 or so...Will likely be hopping a plane somewhere early morning for a bowl game, which makes it tough.

Thanks for the advice. I was actually just looking at my schedule today and I swam at lunch, plan on doing a bike tonight and then I have to sneak in that run. All of a sudden the one mile becomes a little more substantial when it's added on the end of 1:30 of other training in the day.

mrheathen is right (we started our running streaks by coincidence about the same time!)...back it off a little if you have to, and don't worry about your speed at all for a while. Just get out there and do it, whatever it takes to get it done. Think about it, though...even with taking the time to put your running clothes on and get outside and back inside (or where ever you may do it), you could complete this challenge by adding no more than 20 minutes a day! It's really more about the mental aspect of it than the physical. Eventually you'll notice that the 1-2 milers every day are nothing. It took me a while, but I got there.

Another couple pieces of advice - a run one minute after midnight can count for that day! I haven't had to employ that trick yet, but I've come close. I'm not a very good morning person, so I've been tempted a few times to get my daily run in just after the turn of midnight to just get it out of the way.

EDIT: The other great thing about this is that it provides easy access to doing a few bricks here and there. I've done bricks and reverse bricks because of this quite a few times in the past few months and think this may pay off big next season.

Good luck!
