Subject: Felt B12 - good choice for a bigg-ish guy?
Hi there - just posted this on the Clydesdale Forum, but figured a re-post here made sense too.

I am *this* close to pulling the trigger on a 2012 Felt B12 (LBS still has an unboxed one, so it would be brand spanking new).

It's an all-carbon frame with the stock TT3 wheels.

I am 5'11" and 222 currently, though by the tri season I should be down to 210 (and hopefully less!) Also, my biggest struggles, regardless of weight, is getting up hills. I have read recently that the B12 is an awesome bike for flats and long stretches, but just wanted to see if it's the right choice for hills (though in my case, I might just suck on hills, regardless of bike).

Any thoughts would be great! Thanks!

If your goal is to do triathlons they you have made a good choice. The fit is a vital element to getting the right bike so hopefully your fit was more than just standing over a tool etc. and you were able to get on a pedal etc. What will help you get better at hills is ......wait for it.....wait for it......riding more hills! Actually not just riding hills, simply riding more. My second year of riding I would ride the flats hard and continue to ride hard up the slight inclines. This actually will help with some of the more steeper hills. If you're lolligaggin' a lot on your rides, going slower than you should etc. you'll still have some progress with long rides etc. but you really need to put some energy into it if you want to improve, especially on hills. Read some of the posts about riding on this site (use the search engine etc.).

And if you ride enough, you'll shed some extra pounds off and those hills will be a lot easier.

That's a great bike so enjoy if you choose to pull the trigger.

I didn’t used to like to run slow. You begin to recalibrate your needs and wants and if-only you could jog an easy two miles, three times per week. Running is a gift.

Work your weakness. In the sport of triathlon, most coaches agree that you should spend the most time working on your weakest of the three sports. For many of you this will be swimming!
