Subject: Felt DA4 vs Cervelo P2???
I'm considering these 2 bikes. Anyone have any experience they'd like to share? Basically the same price. I'm starting my second season and plan on doing a couple Olympics and a half in the fall. Thanks for any input!

Both good bikes and if memory serves me right, very close geometry so I won't give my standard answer of get a fit first, taking for granted you've already done that.

My wife has a DA4W that we changed out to Di2 and other good stuff. I'm always amazed how well built this frame is.

I would go by
Which fits best of course
then
If price equal, which has the best components
if that equal, go with the best LBS service
If that equal, which one turns your crank the most.

I have a P2. Very good bike

Check if either bike has known limitations such as wheels that you can't put a disc cover on or cranks that you can't put a power meter on or......

If it's from the same LBS and same price I suspect components may make the selection a little easier.

P2...just because I owned one and loved it. It's very compliant and easy to ride and handle. It's fast and there's a ton of accessories to purchase for it.

I have a felt and love it (not the DA4).

never heard of the P2 described as compliant before? Most people I've heard describe it as stiff/rough ride?

Thanks guys! Both Ultegra level bikes. Great point about the power meter. I'm leaning towards the felt simply because the bike shop I can get it at has been super helpful and are offering a free fitting and free tune ups.

I also have a Felt road bike.

Compared to the P5, the P2 is very compliant. It's not cushy, plushy, or a dream pillow ride, but after being on the P5...the P2 is an overall easier machine.

Either one is a great bike.

I just picked up a size 56 2013 DA4 (stack/reach of 516/432). I'm long-waisted so it fit me the best.

The Slowtwich stack/reach data shows the 2013 P3 as being fairly close to the geometry of the DA4 (stack/reach of a 56 is 516/433), not the P2 (stack/reach of a 56 is 531/429).

Did you get fitted to those? Did you test tide them? If so I would go with the Felt DA. The bayonet stear is very stable and stiff. Then again Felts fit me well. What groups are on them? Di is very nice if that is equipped.

I just like the way the Felt looks. It's got this almost Teutonic blockiness to it - even if it is made in California.

I've got neither experience nor knowledge. Just throwing in a random opinion on aesthetics! :-).

I have the P2 and love it. the only regret I have about the bike is that some of the equipment in non-upgradable (if that is a word) As mentioned by someone else, the R501 wheelset that came with my bike doesn't allow for the Aerojacket Disc Cover AND the gossamer FSA crankset doesn't have a Stages Power Meter available yet (I'm told some time in 2014). Little things I know, but it does limit the upgrade options.

They don't look like the same class of bikes (DA4 $3600, PS $2600 on their websites).

Any way what year DA4? If its 2014 I'd definitely go with it as the Ultegra 6800 11 speed is a sweet groupset.  I just installed the 6800 on a 2013 B12 frame and it is a very crisp shifting set.  Even the master mechanic at the LBS that built it up for me thought it (6800) shifted nicer than the Shimano & SRAM10-spd groups (it was his 1st ride on a bike with it).

Yes for the extra 1k saved you could put a nice set of FLO's on the P2, put you'll need to!

Agree that I'd rather go with Ultegra 6800 if cost were the same.  The P2 on Cervelo's website still looks like the 2013 model, unless they are keeping the same paint scheme for 2014.  The new P3 Ultegra is 6800, so the 2014 P2 may be coming with 6800 as well.  Not sure if the price will increase if it does though.

Work your weakness. In the sport of triathlon, most coaches agree that you should spend the most time working on your weakest of the three sports. For many of you this will be swimming!
