Swim
  • 15m 35s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim felt great despite my nervousness when it was announced that wetsuits would not be allowed. I latched onto a swimmer's feet, then switched to a faster swimmer when opportunity presented itself. I then sprinted at the end to a great finish to the leg.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

I skipped putting on socks because they were soaked. I don't think this affected me.
Bike
  • 40m 43s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall, I was very disappointed in my bike. When the race was shortened, I think I wasn't mentally into it and because the pavement was wet I was purposely very careful.
What would you do differently?:

Everything.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
What would you do differently?:

I need to remember to get my feet out of shoes while on bike.
Run
  • 24m 23s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt heavy, mostly because shoes were soaked through. Still, I toughed it out and had a good final sprint.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wet conditions and a 1.5 hour delay.

Event comments:

If not for the horrible weather, this would have been a great race.

Great job under difficult conditions. This will be a great race but they just had bad luck out of the gate. Doing any more races this year?

Yep-- another Sprint at Camp Whitcomb Mason, then a probable Oly at Pleasant Prairie. How about you? How did things go Sunday?

Hey nice race. Way to do the race even with the weather setbacks and the shortened race... unlike me

This should be a nice race next year when they are a little better organized, like maybe getting the lifeguards there before the race is scheduled to start instead of 20 minutes after.

Agreed. This will be a great race and the one I'll probably consider my "home" course as it's basically my regular bike loop.

I guess every race is a learning experience and I took away a lot from this one-- mainly how to be better prepared for inclement weather and the fact that I need to work a lot harder on my bike (which I once thought was my strength.)

I will probably by at Whitcomb Mason doing a Relay and then I am registered for the OLY at PP too.

Sunday went well for me. Too hard on the swim despite telling myself to take it easy but what saved me then was the sprint distance over the OLY

I am thinking about doing HIM in Lake Geneva on Sept 9th but I'm still a little chicken.
