Subject: 11 mile run in NOLA
I'm visiting my sister in law in a few weeks and I've got an 11 mile run that I need to get done while I'm down there. Any suggestions - I could even do a loop a few times to get the miles in. She lives in the Gentilly neighborhood of NOLA.

thanks!

Lakeshore Drive? You could get in a decent run there and maybe even combine that with a run down into City Park along Marconi or along Bayou St John. Ironman 70.3 New Orleans actually followed this route.

Really anything toward the lake (which is north, but people will not use directions and instead use the lake and river to orient themselves) or toward the park (west) should be okay. You might want to avoid heading down toward the river (south/southeast) from Gentilly.

Since you'll be in Gentilly, I second Lakeshore and City Park.

If you feel like driving, Audubon Park is a gorgeous 2mi loop then run down the Streetcar Route on St. Charles (famous).

I've run from the French Quarter to Audubon Park along St. Charles many times, it's easily my most favorite route in New Orleans. You'll have plenty of company too as the streetcar tracks and "neutral ground" within St. Charles is popular with the local runners.

From the Bourbon Orleans (near St. Louis Cathedral) to Audubon Park and back was right at 12 miles, IIRC. Easy to trim a mile if you're that anal specific about your mileage,

I looked back and do have this route  already mapped out here on BT.

I ended up running from her house to City Park and ended up meeting some other triathletes who were running trails in the central northern portion of the park north of Harrison. Super fun!

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
